We are a husband and wife team Dan (carpenter) and Janette (full time Mum) and parents to two boys, and have just (October 2003) launched the site. We have over the past few years struggled to know what to buy the people closest to us, and found that more and more people were in the same boat. We kept hearing from many people how stressful these special occasions have become - from not knowing who to buy what present. The Present Knowledge has been designed to help people communicate their gift ideas and help reduce the wastage associated with make-do presents. Aware that there are wish lists out there, it became obvious to us they were all selling various products and services. It was our aim after requesting a small subscription fee to join the site, to create a website free from any commercial activities. The site aims to promote a genuine and considerate approach to giving and receiving- looking at alternative and thoughtful, and of course fun ways to give around special occasions. We feel our site is inventive, original and useful for all ages.
